Listening speaks. – Roland Barthes
Two ears give access to a situation of hearing or listening, however, what happens if you attach one of your ears to another person’s ear? What would you listen to? How would it be different if your two ears are attached to two different persons? If thirty-five people attach their ears to one another and listen all together, could it be still your own listening?
Private listening is an attempt to activate the physical act of listening with a great deal of concentration but also to communicate solely by listening. Private Listening I and II revolve around private-public and listening-speaking spheres. All participants become listeners and the listeners’ silence is perceived as active as speech.
