Sin’s experience of feeling disconnected while sitting on a bench in Seoul inspired her to transform the bench into a vertical instrument. Using small motors to create vibrations on the bench’s surface, she constructs a sonic landscape that explores the intricate facets of identity and a sense of belonging. Sin incorporates her spoken words through a cassette player, adding a layer of significance that intertwines linguistic expression with the musical rhythm of the piece. This approach not only enhances the composition but also creates dynamics between spoken language and musical elements, inviting the audience to engage in the exploration of self and belonging.
